Connected Community started as a conversation between friends, identifying the shortage of suitable housing for adults with disabilities, and dreaming solutions into reality.

President

Charity Rockwood

Charity Allen Rockwood brings more than 15 years’ experience developing policies; creating processes to ensure proper function of government and programs; developing and executing strategic initiatives as well as organizing programs, major events, meetings, conferences, etc. through her roles as Chief of Staff for the General Manager for the Nooksack Indian Tribe and Office Manager for the Office of Tribal Attorney – Nooksack Indian Tribe. Charity’s current role is serving as the Director of Administration and primary liaison to the Chairman/CEO of Alpha Technologies, Inc. She has proudly served as an Attorney Advocate – barred with the Nooksack Indian Tribe from 2011 to present. Charity has recently completed her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Organization and Management from Purdue University. Also, she has her ATA Paralegal and Nonprofit Management education from Skagit Valley College.

Charity serves on this board, as well as Healing Through Hope.

Secretary

Keri Cleary

Keri Cleary has over 25 years experience in community and program development for governmental and nonprofit entities. For the last 18 years, she has been focusing on community development programs and policies for tribal governments in the PNW, focused primarily in safety, infrastructure, and resource management and preservation. She has specialized in multimodal transportation systems, hazard mitigation, project delivery and housing shortfalls, while advancing safety, resilience and equitable outcomes through data drive solutions at the local, state and federal policy levels. She has held leadership roles on several state and federal transportation, safety, and infrastructure boards and is currently the director of regional facilities for whatcom Catholic. Pursuing MBA, and has certifications in emergency management and response, health and safety, and resource protection and mitigation for land use that is associated with construction.

Treasurer

Elizabeth Ames

Elizabet-Ames is an accomplished accounting professional and trusted financial advisor with more than twenty years of experience in governmental, nonprofit, and Tribal finance. She is the owner of Ames Financial Services LLC, a boutique accounting firm providing bookkeeping, financial reporting, and advisory services to Tribal and nonprofit organizations.

Elizabeth currently serves as Regional Director of Finance and Human Resources for Whatcom Catholic Churches, overseeing financial operations for multiple parishes, mission churches, and a Catholic school. She also is the current appointed Finance Director of Tribal Energy Solutions (a 501c3). Previously, she served for more than a decade as Chief Financial Officer for the Nooksack Indian Tribe, where she managed complex governmental and enterprise finances, supervised accounting staff, and successfully coordinated numerous audits with clean results.

She began her career in public accounting at Moss Adams LLP, specializing in Tribal government audits. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Western Washington University and actively serves on several nonprofit and community boards.
